TMT BARS

TMT bars or Thermo-Mechanically Treated bars are high-strength reinforcement bars having a tough outer core and a soft inner core. The first step of the manufacturing process involves formation of billet through Continuous Casting Machine (CCM). CCM is a process of casting metal into billet which can be further shaped into suitable products. At HR ISPAT ,we believe in being a class apart, we have a well-equipped integrated plant that produces billets, in – house and thereafter the process of making TMT begins. The TMT is passed through quenching and tempered process. While passing the TMT through the quenching and tempered process, the water pressure is optimised. The sudden quenching and drastic change in temperature toughens the outer layer of the TMT bar, thus making it super tough and durable.

Once this process is over, the TMT bars are subject to atmospheric cooling. This is done in order to equalise the temperature difference between the soft inner core and the tough exterior. Once the TMT bar cools down, it slowly turns into a ferrite-pearlite mass. The inner core remains soft giving the TMT bar great tensile strength, shock absorbing resistance and elongation point. This design is unique to the TMT bars and gives superior ductility to the bars.

Carbon 0.23 0.23 0.22
Sulphur 0.045 0.040 0.036
Phosphorus 0.055 0.050 0.038

For better or quaranteed weldability Carbon shall be restricted to 0.25% maximum

Why Us

  • They are earthquake resistance. Holds the columns against failure during the earthquake.
  • They have superior strength and elongation.
  • TMT bars have unique bending abilities. It can be given any shape to meet the architectural and design needs of the building. that’s why it is ideal for any construction work.
  • They are corrosion resistance. Hence gives long life to the contracted structures.
  • TMT bars can withstand high temperature as compared to other HSD Bards hence more reliable.

Technology Used

H R Ispat Pvt. Ltd. uses German technology to manufacture processed bars. This treatment converts the bar surface to a hardened structure. The subsequent phase involves cooling at ambient temperature to allow the hot core to temper the surface through thermal exchange. This results in a unique structure of tempered martensite in the peripheral zone and a fine grain ferrite-pearlite at the central zone. Such a structure is the guarantee of a THERMEX® TMT Bar.

The patented Thermex cooling technology is considered to be a boon in the civil industry that is helped the world economy to cut down the cost from producing steel with costly elements. Worldwide Thermex technology TMT Rebars are widely accepted for the following reasons:

  • Superior quality that comes with the best price.
  • For High Strength and ductility, it is usable for all construction purposes.
  • Highly Resistant to Corrosion.
  • Thermex TMT bars are Resistant to Fire over others.
  • Save upto 17% of steel when TMT bars are manufactured by using Thermex Technology.
  • Highly resistant to Fatigue and easily weldable.
  • For lesser weight easily can be transported thus the transportation cost of using Thermex TMT Bars are lesser over others.
  • It is highly ductile therefore during an earthquake it can exchange the extra energy and reduces the chances of damage. So, Thermex Technology TMT Bars are Earthquake Resistant.

India’s most of the places come under High Seismic Zone therefore it is mandatory to use Earthquake Resistant TMT Bars. Also, Thermex Cooling System made the TMT bars ready almost after it is out of the rolling mill, whereas Cold Twisted Deformed Bars (CTD) takes time to dispatch from the day of manufacturing.
